This work reviews the current knowledge of the fundamental structural, optical and electrical properties of one of the most widely studied transition metal oxides - titanium dioxide. The aim of the research presented in the paper is to determine the most important characteristics necessary for applications of this material in gas sensors and non-linear devices in photonics.

Praca stanowi przegląd obecnej wiedzy na temat podstawowych właściwości strukturalnych, optycznych i elektrycznych jednego z najszerzej badanych tlenków metali przejściowych - dwutlenku tytanu. Celem badań przedstawionych w pracy jest określenie najważniejszych charakterystyk niezbędnych dla zastosowań tego materiału w sensorach gazu i nieliniowych urządzeniach w fotonice.
