Opis

In a complementary manner, the work examines in detail the factors shaping the development of the use of iron raw materials over the last hundred years (1915-2015). Each of these groups of factors is covered in a separate chapter. Discussed include: types of iron ore in a historical perspective; types of iron ore deposits and size of reserves; development of mining technologies extraction of iron ores and concentrates; transport considerations; development of iron metallurgy technologies and types of products obtained; demand for steel and directions of its use; volume and structure of extraction of iron ores and concentrates historically; volume and structure of steel and cast iron production historically; capacity of the steel industry; production costs of iron raw materials; prices of iron ores and concentrates; employment and labour productivity in the steel industry; importance of iron raw materials in the national economy; key trends in the national economy; current criteria for the qualification of iron ore deposits as suitable for mining.
The monograph will be an interesting item on the publishing market, useful for both university and research institute staff and practitioners in the raw materials industry. It will also be a valuable source of knowledge about iron raw materials, starting with their ores, through ore concentrates, pig iron, steel (various varieties), steel and iron products, and steel and iron scrap. As a result, it can be a very good supplementary source material for classes on deposit science and economic geology, as well as classes on ore processing technology and ferrous metallurgy at the country's technical universities.

Praca w sposób komplementarny poddaje szczegółowej analizie czynniki kształtujące rozwój użytkowania surowców żelaza na przestrzeni ostatnich stu lat (1915-2015). Każda z tych grup czynników ujęta jest w formie odrębnego rozdziału. Omówiono m.in.: typy rud żelaza w perspektywie historycznej; typy złóż rud żelaza i wielkość zasobów; rozwój technologii górniczych pozyskiwanie rud i koncentratów żelaza; uwarunkowania transportowe; rozwój technologii metalurgii żelaza oraz rodzaje otrzymywanych produktów; popyt na stal i kierunki jej użytkowania; wielkość i strukturę pozyskiwania rud i koncentratów żelaza w ujęciu historycznym; wielkość i strukturę produkcji stali i żeliwa w ujęciu historycznym; zdolności produkcyjne przemysły stalowego; koszty produkcji surowców żelaza; ceny rud i koncentratów żelaza; zatrudnienie i wydajność pracy w przemyśle stalowym; znaczenie surowców żelaza w gospodarce krajowej; podstawowe trendy w gospodarce krajowej; obecne kryteria kwalifikacji złóż rud żelaza jako przydatnych do eksploatacji.
